- False Report to Law Enforcement Authorities
On August 28 2013, Kyle Gallagher reported to deputies he was robbed at knife point by a black male suspect in front of the Bayou Crossings Apartment Complex in Riverview. Gallagher reported that the suspect stole his cellular phone, Florida driver's license, cash and his green dot debit card.
During the follow up investigation, detectives with Patrol District 4 began checking Gallagher's phone records and discovered from the call logs and texts messages that it appeared Gallagher was utilizing his stolen cell phone during and after the time he reported he was robbed. Detective attempted to contact and question Gallagher about his call and text records and he refused to cooperate with the investigators.
On September 11, 2013, detectives spotted Gallagher at a bus stop in Riverview and attempted to question Gallagher. When Gallagher again refused to cooperate and provide detectives with a reasonable explanation of his phone records, he was arrested for filling a false report to law enforcement.
After Gallagher's arrest, the Florida drivers license he originally reported stolen during the armed robbery was found in his possession. Gallagher was booked into the Hillsborough County Jail.
