Sheriff David Gee to recognize employees and citizens at awards ceremony.
Quarterly Awards Ceremony to Honor Employees and Citizens:
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office Quarterly Awards Ceremony is set for September 18, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Falkenburg Road Jail Assembly Room. HCSO personnel will be honored for valor and exceptional work performance. We will also recognize recent retirees, employees for longevity of service and honor citizens who helped save lives and who helped to catch criminals. Civilian Employee of the Quarter will be recognized along with Deputy of the Quarter.
Here are a few highlights:
- A gas station employee will be presented a citizens award in recognition of his efforts in identifying a homicide suspect and eventually leading to the suspect's arrest.
- Among the life saving awards, one will be presented to the deputies that responded to a traffic crash on Brandon Parkway this past July. The deputies arrived and observed one vehicle on top of another, on fire, with the victim trapped inside. The deputies battled the blaze with their fire extinguishers until HCFR arrived on scene. The actions of these deputies prevented the victim from being burned alive.
- Special recognition awards will be presented to several businesses that have been strong supporters of the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.
- The Medal of Distinguished Service will be presented to Deputy Manuel Gonzalez for taking quick action when a suspect gained control of a detective's firearm earlier this year. The award recipient's quick reaction most likely saved the detective's life.
