    Alligator Attack

    An alligator attacked a woman canoeing on the Hillsborough River.

    At 1:45 p.m., deputies and paramedics were notified that an alligator had attacked a woman canoeing on the Hillsborough River near John Sargeant Park located at 12702 Hwy 301 in North Tampa.

    Hillsborough County Sheriff's Aviation Unit initiated aerial search and spotted the victim and another female in a canoe not far from the parks boat ramp.  Hillsborough County Fire Rescue launched a motorized Zodiac style boat that was used to transport the victim back to Sergeants Park.  The victim has been transported to a local hospital in stable condition.

    FWC is handling the remainder of the investigation.
