Michael J Hamson Sr.
On January 18, 2014, shortly after 12 p.m., Michael Hamson walked into the Bank of America located at 8302 West Hillsborough Avenue and approached the counter.
Hamson then slid a note to the teller demanding money and threatening he had a bomb. Hamson lifted his shirt and displayed a container with metal clips attached and a cell phone taped to a pen.
The teller gave Hamson an undisclosed amount of cash and activated the alarm system as well as alerting an on-site GS4 security guard. As Hamson exited the bank, the security guard pursued Hamson on foot through the bank parking lot.
The GS4 security guard with the assistance of patrol deputies took Hamson into custody in the bank parking lot without further incident.
Hamson does not match any current robberies at this time and invoked his rights during attempted interview. The device was found to be a hoax. Hamson was just released from the Hillsborough County Jail on January 10, 2014 for other unrelated felony charges.
Hamson is back in the Orient Road Jail facing the current bank robbery charge.
The investigation continues.
