Boating Safety for Summer:
Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office marine deputies will patrol the waters of Tampa Bay over the 4th of July weekend conducting safety inspections and watching for unsafe boating operations.
Boaters should remember to ensure all required safety equipment is onboard their vessel and that they remain aware of weather conditions throughout their journey. Launching fireworks or the use of sparklers aboard any boat is dangerous and could result in disastrous consequences if gasoline were to ignite.
Finally, deputies will have zero tolerance for boaters under the influence of alcohol or drugs and will arrest violators. The goal of the Sheriff's Office is to ensure that boaters have a safe and enjoyable Independence Day weekend on the waters!
