After receiving numerous tips from Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay and assistance from various media outlets, HCSO detectives were able to identify 19 year old Ja'Marcus Da'Sha Russ as the person who robbed and injured 62 year old Barbara Orebaugh at the Regency Shopping Center in Brandon. Russ was located at his residence and taken into custody without incident and will be booked into the Orient Road Jail.
Following details listed on the Criminal Arrest Affidavit;
"On 7/8/14, at 2490 W Brandon Blvd, the defendant approached the victim as she was approaching the movie theaters. The defendant attempted to remove the victim's purse, at which time the victim refused to let go of the purse. The defendant then forced the victim to the ground, where he punched and kicked her about her body and face, and fled with the victim's purse. The total value of the property taken from the victim is valued at $3,010.00. The victim suffered broken bones as a result of the Robbery.
Within three hours of the Robbery, the defendant used the victim's credit card at the Walmart located at 11110 Causeway Boulevard, where he made a purchase of $865.48.
The defendant then used the victim's credit card at the Mobile station located at 1640 W. Brandon Boulevard for $46.29.
The defendant then made four separate attempts to use the victim's credit card at the Kmart located at 1602 W. Brandon Boulevard for a total of $1,998.05, however, the transactions were declined.
The defendant then returned to the Mobile station located at 1640 W. Brandon Boulevard and was declined for a transaction of $4.70.
The defendant was captured on video surveillance during the transactions and he was positively identified".
