    Details:

At approximately 10:35 p.m. on July 19, 2014 four year old Logan Shepard was discovered in the front yard of the Rhodine residence with two pit bulls standing over him.

Logan and his mother had walked over to his aunt and uncles residence.  Just prior to them arriving, the uncle, Billy Fredericks Sr. crated the two pit bulls.   When Logan and his mother arrived at the residence, they went inside and Logan was given some ice cream.  Logan was left sitting in the family room and the adults and his 15 year old cousin went into the master bedroom to talk.  While the adults were in the bedroom they heard screams and came out to discover Logan was not in the house.  Two Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office deputies were approximately 100 yards away at the time conducting an unrelated traffic stop.  Upon hearing the screams, the two deputies ran to the residence and discovered Logan in the front yard with the two pit bulls standing over him.  The owner, Billy Frederick Sr. immediately crated the dogs, but unfortunately, Logan was pronounced deceased at the scene.

There is no animal call history at this residence.  Animal Services responded and took possession of the dogs.

There are no charges at this time.  The investigation continues.

Stephanie Groulx and Delores Fredericks are sisters.
