On June 10, 2014, HCSO detectives with the Special Investigation Division, Major Violators Section concluded a four month cocaine investigation with the arrest of Donald Matthew Wright.
Detectives focused on Wright after information was developed that Wright was distributing cocaine throughout the northwest parts of Hillsborough County and the City of Tampa. Wright was also identified as a certified gang member with the Latin Kings and has a prior history of arrest including Aggravated Robbery and Armed Robbery.
On June 10, 2014, detectives utilizing a variety of covert techniques, identified Wright while he was en-route to deliver cocaine in a 2007 Hyundai Azera. Detectives stopped Wright in a parking lot on North Armenia Ave and West Cherry Street in the City of Tampa and found 139 grams of cocaine in his vehicle. The total amount of cocaine seized as a result of this investigation
weighed in at approximately 200 grams with a estimated street value of $10,000 dollars.
During the investigation, detectives were successful in making arrangements for Wright to deliver an excess of 28 grams of cocaine on more than one occasion.
Wright was booked into the Orient Road Jail where he is currently being held.
