The following information has been provided in part from the criminal report affidavit.
On March 11, 2014, at approximately 2:40 a.m., HCSO received a 9-1-1 call from an individual indicating he witnessed the victim, Daniel Hudson get knocked out by another homeless man later identified at Edwin Jamal Brown.
According to the witness, he and another man along with Hudson were drinking beer in a wooded area behind the University Citgo Gas Station, 2245 E. Fletcher Avenue in Tampa when Brown became angry over the three men making to much noise while he tried to sleep.
Brown and Hudson exchanged words that lead to Brown physically attacking Hudson. During the physical altercation, Hudson fell to the ground and became unresponsive. Brown fled the scene on foot while the witness called 9-1-1.
Hillsborough County Fire Rescue responded to the scene and transported Hudson to a local hospital where he died a short time after his arrival. Hillsborough County Medical Examiner's Office conducted an autopsy and determined that Hudson's died from a knife wound to the chest, thus ruling the manner of death a homicide.
Brown was arrested for 2nd Degree Murder early this afternoon after deputies spotted him walking along N. 22nd Street and 31st Ave in Tampa. Brown was booked into the Orient Road Jail with no bond. Next of kin has been notified.
