- Tampering with a Witness - Depriving the Use of 9-1-1 System
On May 16, 2014, at approximately 7:15 a.m., Brian Harris entered the Motel 6, located at 9942 Adamo Drive, dressed in all black and wearing a hood over his head. Harris approached the clerk from behind and demanded all of the money from the register. A struggle ensued between Harris and the clerk when the clerk tried to call 9-1-1.
During the struggle, Harris pulled a knife and managed to cut the telephone cord just moments after the clerk was able to dial 9-1-1. Harris then picked up a fire extinguisher and threatened the clerk while continuing his demands for the money in the register. Harris took an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the scene on foot.
Detectives processed the crime scene and identified physical evidence that linked Harris to the crime scene. In addition, witnesses on scene recognized Harris' voice because he works at the Motel 6 as the maintenance man.
Detectives located Brian Harris back at work on May 23, 2014, and arrested him without incident. Harris is being held at the Orient Road Jail on $25,000 dollar bond.
