Suspect charged with stealing from elderly patients in Sun City.

In 2015, District IV began investigating a case concerning a Hospice patient having items stolen from a residence in Sun City. The items stolen were mainly jewelry to include rings, necklaces, bracelets and earrings. The investigation resulted in detectives in the District IV Investigative Section identifying Theresa Belekevich as a suspect. Belekevich was a Hospice employee at the time of the thefts. The investigation also revealed additional victims in Plant City, Tampa and Gibsonton dating back to October 2014 and multiple items of stolen jewelry returned to victims and their families. Belekevich turned herself in to detectives on December 17, 2015 was booked into Orient Road Jail for 4 counts of Grand Theft, 7 counts of Dealing in Stolen Property and 7 counts of False Information to a 2nd Hand Dealer. Belekevich admitted to the offenses and is no longer an employee of Hospice. The investigation totaled over 1 year to investigate thoroughly.
