Charges: Driving Under the Influence, No Valid Driver's License
On December 22, 2015 at 1:36 a.m., Deputy William Barnes was dispatched to a reckless driver call at the intersection of Forbes Road and MLK Blvd East. The vehicle was a white Ford F150 and was traveling west from the listed intersection. HCSO communications advised the vehicle was traveling west in the eastbound lanes per the complainant who was following on the correct side of the road. Deputy Barnes was traveling east on MLK Blvd. As he approached the small crest in the road just west of Gallagher Road, he observed a large vehicle in his lane of travel. Deputy Barnes swerved to the right completely leaving the road way to avoid a head-on collision. As the vehicle passed him, he observed it to be a white Ford F150. Deputy Barnes got back on the road and conducted a traffic stop on MLK Blvd., east of Valrico Road. After making contact with the driver, Fernando Ramirez, Deputy Barnes observed several indicators of impairment and requested a DUI unit respond. After conducting a DUI investigation, Ramirez was arrested and transported to Orient Road Jail.
