On February 4, 2015 at 7:03 p.m., Deputy Brian Dawsy responded to a disturbance call at the Brandon Hospital Emergency Room located at 119 Oakfield Drive in Brandon. The disturbance involved Lisa Trant and her mother. While Deputy Dawsy was trespassing Trant's mother from the hospital, Lisa Trant attacked Deputy Dawsy from behind, trying to stab him in the neck with a writing pen. Trant was able to stab Deputy Dawsy in the neck and right forearm before he and the hospital staff were able to subdue her. Deputy Dawsy suffered a minor laceration and bruising from the back of his neck to the left side of his face. He also sustained a laceration and bruising to his right forearm. Deputy Dawsy was treated by Brandon Hospital staff on scene and was able to return to work. Lisa Trant was arrested and transported to the Orient Road Jail. Trant is charged with Aggravated Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer.
