On February 14, 2015 at approximately 9:00 a.m., Noval Taylor was engaged in a verbal altercation with his brother at 2214 Roosevelt St. In Wimauma. Taylor struck the victim on the right side of his head, causing several red scratch marks. On February 15, 2015 at 7:12 a.m., deputies responded to 4896 Sun City Center Blvd. in response to a suspicious person call. Upon arrival, Deputy Washington made contact with Taylor in the parking lot. Taylor stated, “I've never punched a cop before,” as he ran towards Deputy Washington and punched him with a closed fist on the left side of his face. At that time, a struggle ensued and Taylor was taken to the ground. While on the ground, Taylor attempted to grab Deputy Washington's firearm and pulled the radio off of Deputy Washington's gun belt, depriving him of communication. Deputy Washington had to use physical force to gain control of Taylor, whom would not stop resisting, and was able to take him into custody. He was charged with Battery on a LEO, Depriving Offer of Means of Protection, Obstructing or Opposing an Officer With Violence and Battery Domestic Violence. There were no injuries sustained during the incident.
