On January 22, 2015 at 2:10 p.m., at the intersection of U.S. Hwy. 92 and Branch Forbes Road, a road rage incident occurred. The driver & arrestee, Mark Cook, believed that his Chevy Malibu had been struck in the rear by a Chevy truck driven by Jason Foster. Due to Foster leaving the alleged incident scene, Cook followed Foster recklessly and ultimately blocked Foster's vehicle at the dead end of Shepherd Road & Poultry Farm Lane which caused a minor crash. Cook exited his vehicle pointing a small black handgun and threatened the life of Foster while approaching his vehicle. Cook then opened Foster's driver door and punched Foster while displaying the weapon on his waistband. Foster was able to shut the vehicle door and protect himself and his 5-year-old son until HCSO arrived. Deputies responded and advised that no traffic crash had occurred at the original incident scene, as Cook claimed. Mark Cook was arrested for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon (Firearm) (x2), Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon (Motor Vehicle) (x2), Child Neglect (x2), Armed Burglary of a Conveyance. Mark Cook's 2-year-old daughter was in Cook's vehicle during the incident.
