    Details:

On June 24, 2015 at 11:50 a.m., Grenisha Samuels stabbed John Wright on his left ear causing a laceration to form that had a cut from the inside earlobe to the outside earlobe. Wright contacted the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office and when deputies arrived, he escorted them to 1335 Baywatch Loop #104 where the incident occurred. Deputies knocked on the door and, after several minutes, Laurence Wyatte opened the door. Wyatte claimed that Grenisha Samuels was home, but determined that he was not going to let deputies inside. Wyatte attempted to shut the door, but the door was blocked from being shut. Deputies entered the residence and located Grenisha Samuels hiding in a back bedroom underneath a blanket on a bed. Samuels attempted to run, but was stopped in the hallway/living room area. Deputies attempted to arrest Grenisha Samuels, but she resisted arrest. During this time, she punched Deputy Jennifer Grecco and purposely bumped Sergeant Jose Silva with her chest in an attempt to get away. While deputies were trying to gain control of her and place handcuffs on her, Laurence Wyatte was yelling and screaming at the deputies to get out of his apartment. He was told several times to back up and not interfere. While deputies were trying to gain control of Samuels, Wyatte emerged from the same bedroom where Samuels was originally hiding. He quickly approached the deputies and punched Deputy James Paes in the face. Deputy Paes fell against a sofa and Wyatte then straddled Deputy Paes and punched him several times. Deputies attempted to utilize their Electronic Control Devices to control him, but he attempted to rip the prongs out of his chest and stand up. Deputies were finally able to gain control of both suspects and take both into custody.

Grenisha Samuels was charged with Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon, Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer, Resisting Officer with Violence and three counts of Violation of Probation. Laurence Wyatte was charged with Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer and Resisting Officer with Violence.
