On March 9, 2015 at approximately 3:00 a.m. the defendant approached the victim in the parking lot of the Chevron and advised he was a police officer and she needed to come with him. He escorted her inside the Chevron continuously stating he was the police and she was going to jail. Once inside the Chevron, he stood in the doorway and when the victim attempted to leave he refused to let her leave, holding her inside the store against her will. The defendant had his right hand inside the front pocket of his jacket while advising the victim she was not allowed to leave the store and that he was a police officer. The clerk called the Sheriff's Office and deputies arrive while suspect was still at the Chevron. The defendant was identified by the victim and witnesses as the person who committed the offense. The defendant spontaneously stated “I did tell her I was the police”. The defendant was found to be in possession of a black and silver hatchet inside the front pocket of his jacket.
