On 10/29/15, deputies executed a court authorized search warrant at 10728 Deepbrook Drive in Riverview. Upon entry, Daniel Gonzalez-Marin fled on foot out of the rear of the residence before being detained in the back yard by K-9 Deputy Lariz and canine “Storm.”
During the search, detectives discovered two separate rooms inside the home being utilized solely for the purpose of cultivating marijuana. Each room contained several large marijuana plants with multiple high sodium vapor lights, ballasts and fans. The marijuana plants were growing in soiled pots with twine affixed to the stems to hold them in place.
Detectives recovered a total of 70 marijuana plants within the residence. Tampa Electric Company (TECO) responded to the incident scene and discovered an illegal electrical connection providing unmetered electricity to the residence. The estimated theft of electricity was $8,800.00. The marijuana weighed approximately 358 pounds. The street value of the marijuana is approximately $700,000.
Daniel Gonzalez-Marin was arrested and charged with Trafficking in Marijuana, Cultivation of Marijuana, Grand Theft, and Own, Lease, Rent for purposes of Trafficking Marijuana.
