On September 10, 2015, District II Street Crimes deputies concluded a 4-month long investigation involving the illegal manufacturing and sale of synthetic marijuana (spice). Multiple purchases of spice were made from the AMG Hookah Lounge in Seffner and the Dreams Smoke Shop in Thonotosassa. Both businesses are owned and operated by the Jaber family who reside at 10208 Grant Creek Drive in Tampa. Through a lengthy investigation, deputies collected evidence to obtain a search warrant for each business as well as the owners' home where it was believed spice was being manufactured for sale at the retail locations. In addition to the four people arrested and listed below. The investigation continues.
All three search warrants were executed on September 10th, resulting in the following:
Private residence at 10208 Grant Creek Drive, Tampa 33647:
Naser Jaber and Nidal Jaber were arrested at their home. Approximately 100 pounds of materials used for manufacturing spice were seized, along with approximately 5 grams of cocaine, a 9mm handgun, and $9,000 in currency. A vehicle (2006 Honda Odyssey) used to transport spice was also seized. Additional charges related to the seized spice materials are pending lab testing results.
AMG Hookah Lounge at 1430 Kingsway Road South, Seffner 33584:
18 packets of synthetic marijuana (spice) were seized from within the business weighing approximately 180 grams. The clerk working at the business, Santos G. Desmond, was found to be in possession of 111 grams of cannabis. Numerous bottles of alcohol were seized, as the business is not licensed for alcohol sales. A 17 year-old associate of the clerk was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia and an Adderall pill. Additional charges related to the seized spice materials are pending lab testing results.
Dreams Smoke Shop at 10804 Main Street, Thonotosassa 33592:
180 packets of synthetic marijuana (spice) were seized from within the business totaling approximately 4 pounds. No arrests were made at the location. Charges related to the seized spice materials are pending lab testing results.
