During the duration of 2-014 – 2015 school year, Mr. Lattimore was employed as a Gaither High School substitute teacher, coach and athletic event coordinator. His responsibilities included collecting, reporting and turning in the money made at each school athletic event.
After the end of the school year, Mr. Lattimore had cashed all the event checks which funded each event, but had not turned in all the gate money as scheduled and instructed from these events. On May 14, 2015, Mr. Lattimore told the school's officials $6,800 had been stolen by unknown persons since the beginning of the school year (September of 2014). Lattimore claimed to have been too embarrassed to tell anyone. Mr. Lattimore was fired.
Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office was notified and began an investigation. An audit of the account showed a school loss of $9,852.
Lattimore was arrested today, September 14, 2015 and charged with Grand Theft (3rd Degree).
