Please join us as we celebrate the grand opening of our brand new Homeless Outreach Center located at 3671 West Waters Avenue
(Fountain Oaks Plaza) in Tampa on Friday, April 8th, at 11 am. HCSO Colonel Greg Brown and Major Chad Chronister will be the Master of Ceremonies.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office Homeless Initiative began in 2010 with just one deputy. Today, we have 5 deputies working out of each of our 4 District offices covering the entire county.
While working in conjunction with several social agencies, we have assisted over 500 homeless individuals into temporary housing/shelters and have permanently housed or reunited over 200 homeless individuals with family members.
Daily, the Homeless Initiative deputies assist our homeless with several things such as; Identification and Birth Certificates. They assist with applications and services for Social Security, food assistance, healthcare, mental health care and substance abuse.
Working together while sharing this new facility will include the following organizations;
- Tampa Police Department - Outreach Program
- Tampa Crossroads
- Catholic Charities
