    4th Quarter Awards Ceremony:

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office Quarterly Awards Ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at 2:00 pm at the Falkenburg Road Jail Assembly Room, 520 North Falkenburg Road in Tampa.

We will honor retirees and longevity employees. Awards will be presented for the Civilian of the Quarter, Detention Deputy of the Quarter, and the Law Enforcement Deputy of the Quarter.

A few of the awards that will be presented:
    • Life Saving Award - Deputy Greg Starling and Master Detective Troy Davis were eating lunch when a woman stood from her chair in distress. She motioned she may be choking. Deputy Starling moved across the restaurant and performed the Heimlich maneuver on the woman. His quick and decisive action coupled with the proper performance of the maneuver dislodged the food from the woman's airway.
    • Distinguished Performance Award - Six Sheriff's offices across the State of Florida have the responsibility of investigating allegations of child abuse and neglect. Safety Methodology is a practice designed to assess safety for children and families around the State. Child Protection Investigator Kathleen Matthews volunteered to create the revised tool to include all components of the Safety Methodology practice. On August 18, the new framework was adopted by all six Sheriff's Offices as well as The Department of Children and Families.
    • Life Saving Award - Deputy Jordan Williams responded to a person down call. The call remarks stated the person was turning blue and gasping for air. Deputy Williams started CPR and continued for 7 minutes until HCFR arrived. HCFR surmised the victim would have died before their arrival if Deputy Williams hadn't effectively performed CPR.
The public and media are invited.
