Woman on scooter suffered fatal injuries after being struck by two vehicles.

On 12/25/16 at 11:34 pm, Isabel Alarcon Mateus, was operating a Razor electric scooter southbound on Sheldon Road near the intersection of Hamilton Avenue in the inside lane. The scooter did not have rear lights and was not a legal motor vehicle. Brian Edward Joyner, was operating his 2003 Pontiac Vibe, southbound on Sheldon Road in the inside lane.
As Mr. Joyner approached Ms. Mateus, he was unable to see her scooter and struck the scooter. Ms. Mateus was displaced from the scooter. Shortly after the initial crash, Suzeth Ojeda Perez was operating her 2014 Nissan Sentra southbound and failed to see the scooter in the road. Ms. Ojeda Perez struck the scooter.
Ms. Mateus was transported to St. Joseph's Main Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. Alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in this crash. Next of Kin has been notified. The investigation continues.
