On December 30, 2015 at 7:02 p.m., the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call reporting that a person had been shot in the chest at 1702 University Woods Place in Tampa. Upon arrival of HCSO deputies and EMS, the victim, Tysaiah Donaldson, was transported to the Florida Hospital on Fletcher Avenue where he was pronounced deceased. Throughout the course of the investigation, deputies learned that the victim and two witnesses were sitting outside of the victim's apartment when two black males came to buy marijuana from the victim. As one of the black males looked at the marijuana, the second black male produced a handgun and pointed it at the victim and told the victim to give it up and that he would take all of it. The black male with the handgun then shot the victim in the chest and as he was trying to get away, the black male pointed the gun at both witnesses and told them to get back.
On December 31, 2015, an autopsy of the victim was conducted by the Hillsborough County Medical Examiner's Office. The cause of death was determined to be a gunshot wound to the chest with perforation of heart and lung and the manner of death was ruled to be a homicide. Detectives received information about Kaliyah Ronell-Marquee Everett being a possible suspect and obtained a photograph of Everett. Witnesses identified the person in the photograph as the person who shot and killed Tysaiah Donaldson. A warrant was
obtained for Kaliyah Ronell-Marquee Everett.
