Elmore Jr. contacted law enforcement, through his attorney, to report he found his live-in girlfriend, dead from a gunshot wound.

- Murder in the Second Degree with a Firearm
On September 22, 2016 at approximately 7:24 PM, Thomas Elmore Jr. contacted law enforcement, through his attorney, to report he found his live-in girlfriend, Tamara Naish, dead from a gunshot wound. The residence they shared is located at 9413 Star Gazer Lane in Riverview. Elmore advised, through his attorney, he found his girlfriend approximately 24 hours prior, but was upset and did not know what to do, until his attorney advised law enforcement needed to be notified. Elmore elected to not make any statements at that time.
Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office personnel arrived at the residence reference a suicide call for service. Deputies confirmed there was a deceased female inside of the residence. Homicide detectives arrived and a search warrant was authored for the residence. At approximately 2:45 a.m., the search warrant was served and processing began. At approximately 5:00 a.m., the Hillsborough County Medical Examiner's Office responded to exam the decedent and opined she had been dead for at least 36 hours.
During the crime scene investigation, it was learned the victim's body appeared to have been moved and manipulated. Evidence located at the scene was inconsistent with a suicide.
On September 24, 2016 at approximately 12:30 p.m., Thomas Elmore Jr. provided a statement under oath. The defendant advised after returning home at approximately 1:00 a.m. on 09/21/2016 from Hooter's, Tamara Naish (victim) engaged him in an argument over her recent job loss and money issues. The defendant advised the victim kicked his dog during the argument, therefore he decided to leave and take his dog to his parent's home in Seffner. Upon his return at approximately 3:15 a.m., the defendant advised he unlocked the secured residence and entered. Upon entering the master bedroom, he advised the master bathroom door was closed, therefore he had to push it open and saw the victim lying on her back with one of his pistols in her left hand. The defendant said he checked her pulse and noted she was deceased, however he did not know what to do and did not call 911.
A post mortem examination took place on September 23, 2016 at 11:00 a.m., it is the opinion of the MEO that the gunshot wounds are not self-inflicted. The manner of death is homicide.
Thomas Elmore, Jr. was arrested on 10/9/16 and charged with Second Degree Murder with a Firearm.
