Update To Traffic Fatality

On August 19, 2016 at 9:30 pm, a bicyclist was crossing Bearss Avenue at the intersection of N.16th Street from the southwest corner to the northwest corner through the middle of the intersection. The bicyclist was not in the marked crosswalk, was wearing dark clothing and had no lights on his bicycle.
Heather Gallman was traveling westbound on Bearss Avenue in the outside lane approaching the intersection when a white unknown vehicle quickly changed lanes in front of her to avoid striking the bicyclist. Gallman was not able to avoid the collision and the left front of her vehicle struck the bicyclist. The bicyclist died at the scene.
Gallman was not suspected of alcohol or drug use and no charges are expected.
