Aggravated Battery On A Law Enforcement Deputy
The suspect vehicle rammed the deputy's patrol vehicle, striking the deputy.

The following information is preliminary details of this event and are subject to change as the investigation continues;
Hillsborough County, FL - On 09/13/2016 at approximately 10:45 pm, a deputy was en route to a aggravated battery call at 3701 E Hwy 92 when he spotted a vehicle that was suspect in the call he was assigned to. The deputy conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle on Woodrow Wilson Street. Once the vehicle pulled over and the deputy started to get out of his patrol car, the suspect vehicle backed up into the patrol car ramming the front end of the patrol vehicle.
The deputy was knocked to the ground and at that time, fearing for his life, fired his weapon at least once at the suspect vehicle. The suspect vehicle drove away, fleeing from the scene.
Additional deputies arrived on scene rendering aid to the deputy and began searching for the suspect(s) and the vehicle.
A short time later, the suspect vehicle was located abandoned at Sammons Rd and S. Woodrow Wilson in Plant City. K9 and Aviation Units responded to assist in the search of the suspect(s), but did not locate anyone.
The deputy sustained minor injuries and was checked out by EMS at the scene. He was not transported to a hospital from the scene.
