Diquan Mills (deceased)
9862 Timmons Road
Charge: 2nd Degree Murder
On January 23, 2017 at approximately 11:50 a.m., Darrell Gadson was at his residence located at 9862 Timmons Road in Thonotosassa. Diquan Mills (Gadson's cousin) went to this location with a witness at the request of the Gadson's mother. She was concerned for the defendant due to his recent "erratic" behavior. The witness observed Mills sitting on the couch in the living room. The witness then observed the Gadson walk out of his bedroom, holding a handgun in his right hand and walk to the couch where Mills was sitting. The witness said that Gadson raised his right hand and then the witness heard one gunshot. The witness fled the residence for his own safety and contacted law enforcement.
HCSO patrol arrived on scene and located the witness hiding outside in the area and Darrell Gadson crouched down on the driveway of the residence. Gadson was detained in handcuffs by HCSO patrol. Diquan Mills was found deceased in the living room. A court-authorized search warrant was served on the residence, to include the vehicles located thereon. A .45 caliber Winchester casing was located near Mills' body. A black in color, .45 caliber handgun was located within a gray Toyota Corolla which was parked in the driveway of this location.
The Medical Examiner responded to the residence and noted that Mills' wounds were consistent with the statement provided by the witness. Darrell Gadson did not provide any statements to law enforcement. He was arrested and charged with 2nd Degree Murder.
