Charges: Armed Kidnapping, Aggravated Assault with Deadly Weapon, Possession of Firearm on School Property, Armed False Imprisonment, Petit Theft, Armed Burlgary
On November 27, 2017 at approximately 6:45 a.m., Deandre Ziegler was armed with a loaded firearm at Folsom Elementary School when he approached the victim (ex-girlfriend) at her car. Ziegler ordered the victim into the vehicle on the driver's side, as he entered the passenger door. The vehicle was also occupied by a four-year-old child. Once inside the vehicle, Ziegler displayed a black firearm, released the clip on the gun and showed the victim the bullets inside. He then stated, "This is what I'm going to use on you," as he reloaded the firearm. The victim pleaded with him not to do this in front of the child and asked that she be allowed to take him to a safe place or daycare. Ziegler agreed to allow her to take the child to daycare, but did not exit the vehicle and kept the firearm in his hand by his side. The victim entered the daycare to drop the child off and did not exit until law enforcement arrived. During that time, Ziegler removed the victim's purse containing her wallet, cellphone and miscellaneous documents. Deputies located Ziegler and placed him under arrest. He was in possession of the loaded firearm. The victim's belongings were also located during the arrest. The victim was terrorized and was in fear for her life during this incident, as well as that of the child. The victim positively identified Zieglar as the one who committed the incident.
