Charges: Robbery With A Firearm
On Sunday, October 15, at 12:45 p.m., deputies responded to 1608 Harvard Woods Drive in Brandon, in reference to Discharge of a Firearm. During the investigation, detectives learned the victim, Jordan Chavers, agreed to meet with two subjects who expressed interest in purchasing a firearm from him. The victim identified the subjects as "CJ" and "Dread", two associates whom he's known for nearly a year. The first suspect, "CJ", later identified as Chephren Sahadeo, asked the victim to show him the gun. While inspecting the firearm, Sahadeo removed the magazine, placed the gun in his pants pocket, brandished a second gun from his waistband, and subsequently pointed the gun at the victim. Sahadeo then fired the weapon in the direction of the victim while the victim fled for cover. As this incident unfolded, a neighbor who was loading his child into his vehicle, witnessed the armed suspect firing shots. The neighbor, who has a valid Florida concealed weapon's license, armed himself and fired upon both suspects as he was in fear for his life and his child's life.
Detectives continued with extensive interviews with the victim and witnesses and were able to determine Mr. Sahadeo's home address. With the assistance of K9, detectives responded to his home and subsequently arrested Sahadeo without further incident. Post miranda, Sahadeo provided a confession, but refused to provide further information such as the whereabouts of the firearms and the identity of "Dread". During further investigation, detectives were provided with a lead regarding "Dread's" whereabouts.
On Monday, October 16, a photo lineup was shown to the victim who positively identified Mr. Hood as the second person involved in the robbery. Upon obtaining a positive identity, detectives obtained an arrest affidavit and subsequently located and arrested Mr. Hood without incident.
Both men have been booked into the Orient Road Jail. The neighbor/witness who fired his firearm has not been charged with any crime. That portion of the incident will be reviewed by the Hillsborough County State Attorney's Office.
The investigation continues.
