On October 15, 2017 at approximately 7:15 p.m., Bobby Hernandez and Jose Figueroa arranged to meet the victim to purchase some sneakers at 5523 Center St. in Wimauma. While discussing the purchase of the sneakers, Hernandez grabbed the victim's necklace, causing it to break, and was able to remove the gold cross pendant with diamonds from the necklace. The victim attempted to confront Hernandez and Figueroa as they were leaving the area in their vehicle. Figueroa then pointed a firearm out of the window and fired three rounds from an unknown make/model semi-auto firearm in an attempt to scare the victim. Hernandez was located shortly after the incident and arrested for Robbery. District IV detectives began an extensive search for Jose Figueroa and after several days were able to identify a location he was believed to be hiding, 10211 Casa Palermo Cr. in Brandon. Detectives observed Figueroa sitting on the back porch of the residence and were able to apprehend him without incident. Figueroa was also wanted from an April 2017 investigation for Aggravated Battery on a Pregnant Female, Witness Tampering, and two counts of Criminal Mischief $1000 or more.
