Deputies arrested Justin Hughes Wednesday morning for Armed Robbery and Aggravated Assault, among other charges, when he confronted a man who had arrived at this location to meet a female acquaintance and took his belongings at knife-point.
After coordinating with a woman named Anstacia for an early morning meeting, the victim arrived in the vicinity of 9646 Barnside Place on December 19 at approximately 4:07 a.m. When he got out of the car, he was quickly approached by a man carrying a knife who he would identify as Hughes when deputies arrived. Hughes wielded the knife at the victim but the knife never made contact. He stole over $700 in personal belongings from the victim before he fled the scene on foot and ran into a trailer located at 9646 Barnside Place.
After conducting a search of the trailer, Hughes was identified by the victim and was found to be in possession of the exact amount of money stolen from him. Deputies called the victim's cellular telephone, and could hear the phone ringing within Hughes' bedroom in the trailer. After obtaining a search warrant, detectives found the victim's headphones, watch, tennis shoes and wallet containing identification and credit cards concealed within an air conditioning vent located within Hughes' bedroom. Hughes was charged with Armed Robbery, Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Felony, Battery and Grand Theft.
Hughes was recently released from prison on July 25, 2017, for Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer (2 counts), Carrying a Concealed Firearm and Possession of a Controlled Substance (2 counts).
