    Details:

Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office has received several complaints from citizens today stating that they have received calls from individuals either claiming that they owe money to the IRS or some saying that a family member has been kidnapped and they need money. These are ongoing scams that are going around.

The IRS doesn't initiate contact with taxpayers by email, text messages or social media channels to request personal or financial information. In addition, IRS does not threaten taxpayers with lawsuits, imprisonment or other enforcement action. Recognizing these telltale signs of a phishing or tax scam could save you from becoming a victim.

Do not arrange for any credit card payments.  Again, these are ongoing scams.
