On May 25, 2017, at 9:05 a.m., Sunshine Nicole Grizzle was operating a black, 2008 Chevrolet Suburban eastbound on County Road 672 in the area of Amber Sweet Lane at approximately 55 MPH. Jesus Angel Aleman was operating a black and tan, Ford F350 pulling a pump trailer, westbound on County Road 672 at approximately 55 MPH. The Ford F350 was also occupied by Johnnie Scarborough and Drew Scarborough. Grizzle failed to maintain her lane and entered the westbound lane. Aleman began honking his horn at Grizzle in an effort to get her attention, but she did not react. Aleman attempted to swerve off the roadway to avoid a collision, but was unsuccessful. The front of the Suburban struck the front of the F350. The F350 rolled over onto its passenger side and came to rest in the ditch on the north side of the road. Grizzle was pronounced deceased at the scene. Aleman was transported to Tampa General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Johnnie and Drew Scarborough were transported to St. Joseph's Hospital south with non-life threatening injuries. Aleman did not have any indications of impairment and consented to a voluntary blood draw. Grizzle's toxicology results are pending the autopsy.
