Hillsborough County Sheriff's School Resource Deputies arrested Webb Middle School seventh-grader Miguel Rocca on Monday November 13th. after a pistol and ammunition was discovered in his backpack on campus.
The Tampa Police Department forwarded an anonymous tip they received over the weekend that a student named Miguel was selling drugs on school property and was known to carry a gun. School administrators conducted an administrative search of Rocca's property, and discovered an empty Diamondback Arms .380 semi-automatic pistol and two live bullets in his backpack. Rocca was arrested and transported to the Hillsborough County Juvenile Assessment Center.
Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister praised the collaboration between Hillsborough County Public Schools and law enforcement's commitment to keep every student safe.
