    High Visibility Enforcement Campaign

    Deputies will focus their efforts to educate pedestrians and cyclists in an effort to reduce injuries and fatalities.

    Details:

    The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office will participate in a High Visibility Enforcement Campaign to keep pedestrians and cyclists safe. Deputies will focus their efforts to educate pedestrians and cyclists in an effort to reduce injuries and fatalities. Crashes involving pedestrians and bicyclists are more likely to result in fatal or serious injuries than any other types of crashes.

    Deputies will begin their focus at the following (4) locations:

    1. Fletcher Avenue corridor from Nebraska Avenue to Bruce B. Downs Boulevard
    2. Waters Avenue West corridor from Sheldon Road to Himes Avenue North
    3. Sheldon Road corridor between Hillsborough Avenue West and Linebaugh Avenue
    4. Hillsborough Avenue corridor from Sheldon Road to George Road


    GENERAL SAFETY TIPS - PEDESTRIANS

     

    • Be visisble.  Walk in well-lit areas.
    • Wear bright or reflective clothing.  Be seen. Be safe.
    • Assme drivers do not see you.
    • Use a crosswalk.  Push button to activate the walk signal.
    • Look left, right and left again before crossing the street.
    GENERAL SAFETY TIPS - BICYCLISTS
    • Turn on your front white light and red taillight at night.  Red reflectors are also required.
    • Stay visisble. Choose well-lit bicycle routes.
    • Always wear a helmet, the brighter the better.
    • Bicycles on the road are vehicles.
    • Obey all traffic signs, signals, and lane markings.
    • Yield to traffic when appropriate.  It's better to be safe than "to be right."
