At approximately 5:28 pm, Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office received several 911 calls reference a helicopter that had crash landed on the roof of a residence located at 9450 Roberts Road in Odessa. The pilot was the only occupant in the helicopter and was one of the individuals that made a 911 call. The helicopter is home made from a kit. The pilot was able to get out of the helicopter and waited on the roof until he was rescued by Fire Rescue. He was then transported to St. Joseph's hospital where he was listed in stable condition. There were no occupants inside the residence at the time. The family dog was inside, but was not injured.
The helicopter will remain in place until such time as NTSB makes the decision to remove it and NTSB and FAA conduct their investigation.
