Making School Threats Is No Joke:
Making threats at school is no laughing matter and Sheriff Chad Chronister wants to make sure students and parents know. That is why today, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office released the public safety announcement called "Making School Threats is No Joke."
The minute and a half video features the Sheriff and School Resource Deputies who explain the severity of making school based threats, even if someone is just kidding. In light of the recent incident in South Florida, there have been several instances where a student made comments that worried others. Many times they were unfounded, but every single one is taken very seriously and investigated to the fullest extent.
"Let me make this crystal clear. Any threat to a school, even if it is a copy cat or a prank, will be dealt with swiftly by law enforcement," said Sheriff Chad Chronister in the PSA. "Make a threat and you will be arrested. We are not kidding."
Several students have already been arrested. Making those jokes or threats risk a felony arrest for a student that could effect the rest of their lives in a very negative way. No joke is worth that.
