Charge: 2nd Degree Murder with a Firearm
3811 Cortez Circle
On December 28, 2017, at approximately 1:43 am, the defendant (Tyler Bardin, DOB 7/11/95) got into a physical altercation with the victim Brian Vessel, DOB 12/27/71 which began in the apartment located at 3811 Cortez Circle in Tampa. There is an argument heard on the phone call between the victim and the defendant, in which both are accusing each other of punching each other. The physical altercation between the victim and the defendant stemmed from a domestic dispute between the victim and the defendant's mother Tish Bardin, which occurred within the apartment just prior to the 911 call. Tish Bardin advised she left the apartment after she was punched by the victim. Tish Bardin advised she went down the stairs from her apartment to her vehicle, which was parked in front of 3811 Cortez Circle and entered the front driver's seat.
The victim followed her down the stairs to the sidewalk area, with the defendant following after him. There was another verbal altercation on the sidewalk area in front of 3811 Cortez Circle. A witness then heard the victim state "you shot me," followed by the sound of footsteps which he believed were going up the staircase. The witness then heard additional gunshots. The victim was shot a total of five times. An autopsy confirmed the victim had two fatal gunshot wounds. He was arrested on April 12, 2018 at 800 East Twiggs Street.
