Driver cited for Failed to Stop for School Bus When Stop Signal Displayed.
According to investigators, on January 26, 2018, at approximately 6:30 a.m., Hillsborough County School bus #4568 stopped in the southbound lane of Miller Road, to pick up Durant High School students near the intersection of Miller Road and Bonterra Boulevard. The driver of the school bus activated the bus stop lights and signs to stop traffic for the student's safety.
As three students were crossing the road, a northbound 2003 Jeep Liberty driven by Christian Carlsen, 18, failed to stop and struck three students. Two of the students ages 15 and 17, were transported to Brandon Hospital by EMS and were listed in stable condition. The third student, 17, complained of a sprained ankle and was driven from the scene by his parents.
