Vehicle: 2005 Chevrolet Suburban
Driver: Brett Proctor
On June 18, 2018 at 4:04 p.m., a traffic crash involving a bicyclist occurred on Rhodine Road, just west of Greenland Drive. A 2005 Chevrolet Suburban, driven by Brett Proctor, was eastbound on Rhodine Road approaching the bicyclist from behind. Proctor had slowed due to oncoming traffic and once traffic cleared, moved slightly left and accelerated to pass the bicyclist. For unknown reasons, the bicyclist turned left in front of the Suburban. The front of the Suburban struck the left side of the bicyclist. The bicyclist was seriously injured and flown to Tampa General Hospital. Deputies at the scene had not identified the bicyclist and RapidID met with negative results. At approximately 8:00 p.m., Mario Marquez called HCSO to report his son, Ronald Marquez, missing. Mr. Marquez identified his son and son’s bicycle over the phone and responded to the hospital. Ronald Marquez remains at TGH in stable condition.
