Sheriff Chad Chronister's Fourth of July message:
This Fourth of July, families and friends will gather for bar-b-ques and of course, fireworks. Although you may be tempted to put on your own fireworks display, it's best to leave it to the experts. Home and individual fireworks displays pose a number of dangers that may cause serious injuries and sometimes result in loss of life.
If you choose to buy fireworks, it is your responsibility to ensure they are legally purchased, stored and ignited. Without a doubt, we will receive calls from citizens who want to report the use of illegal fireworks or may be disturbed by the sounds of fireworks going off late at night. If we receive a complaint, a deputy will respond and meet with the complainant. Suspected illegal fireworks will be photographed and a request for prosecution through the State Attorney's Office will be provided.
We want everyone to enjoy the July Fourth celebration, please be respectful of your neighbors and again consider attending a professional fireworks display.
Happy Fourth of July, everyone.
