On May 10, seven members of the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office representing Police Unity Tour Chapter 8, left Portsmouth, Virginia on bicycles. They along with 150 riders from Florida, Texas, Louisiana, Georgia, Arizona and Virginia rode through the hills of northern Virginia. Over the next three days, they rode more than 250 miles to Washington, D.C. Once there, they joined the other eight chapters. Nearly 2,500 active and retired law enforcement officers joined by survivors rode in two columns, in complete silence, to the National Fallen Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C. They were met by thousands of supporters and loved ones. Riders train and fund raise year round for the opportunity and honor to ride for those who died in the line of duty during the past year.
