    Details:

After five hours of negotiations, the suspect in today's barricade scene was discovered dead inside his home due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound.  At 5:32 this morning, HCSO deputies responded to the scene at Longboat Way and Islander Lane for reports of shots fired.

Once on scene, deputies found two women had been shot. As Deputies spoke with the women, they learned a male suspect, Michel "Frenchy" Barbeau, was still inside the home.  SWAT and specialty units were called to the scene after Barbeau refused to exit his home.  HCSO Negotiators continuously attempted to speak with Barbeau in an attempt to end the situation without further injury to him or anyone else.  At one point, Barbeau's attorney came to the scene and tried to get him to exit. After several failed attempts to talk him out of the house, HCSO used chemical agents to get try and get him to exit with negative results. At around 1:50 p.m., a robot searched the home and found Barbeau dead.

This is an active and ongoing investigation.
