Motorists should be prepared for stepped up Click It or Ticket activities from May 21st through June 6th that will take place around the clock. If deputies find you on the road unbuckled anytime or anywhere, you can expect to get a ticket — not a warning, no excuses and no exceptions!
Effective June 30th 2009, not wearing a seat belt became a primary traffic offense in the State of Florida and yet we still continue to have serious injuries and fatalities involving individuals not wearing seatbelts.

Since 2004 more than 175 people in Hillsborough County chose NOT to wear a seat belt and died in traffic crashes.
The Florida Safety Belt Law (316.614) states “it’s unlawful to operate a motor vehicle in the State of Florida unless each passenger and the operator are restrained by a safety belt or some type of approved child restraint device if the occupant is a child”. The fine is $101.00

It’s Click It or Ticket, buckle up and encourage your loved ones to do the same. You’ll save the cost of a ticket and may even save a life.
