On December 8, 2011, The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office Court Operations Division teamed up with the county's Children's Justice Center to make this holiday season special for 108 children in the Tampa Bay area. This year's holiday gift wrapping will took place on the first floor, 700 Twiggs Street at the Children's Justice Center in Tampa.
During the last month, the Court Operations Division collected toys for children going through legal or custodial situations at the Children's Justice Center. The Children's Justice Center provides supervised visitation service for children involved in the court system--many are in foster homes or subject to injunction protection--others are the subject of custody disputes. Whatever the case, these children need the services provided by the CJC to ensure their safety while visiting with parents and family members.
Deputies and court operations personnel supported this important effort by adopting a child, adopting a family or by simply donating cash. The Court Operations Division was able to gather enough toys for 108 children from 71 families who have had a rough year.
These children have been through a lot, and the toy drive and gift presentations will make all of them a little bit merrier this holiday season.
