Job Overview

As part of the Application Development Team, write and maintain .NET applications that touch all parts of the
Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office to include law enforcement, detention, human resources, finance, and integration
with agency criminal justice partners. Incumbents in this position are also required to assist and mentor Application
Developers.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Depending on assigned area of responsibility, incumbents in the position may perform some or all of the activities described below.
 
  • Design, develop, implement, and maintain web and client solutions.
  • Work with end users to analyze requirements and create application design documents and procedures.
  • Uphold and assist in the evolution of development standards for the enterprise.
  • Apply and improve development practices and processes in the creation of enterprise-level applications and services.
  • Participate in code reviews of Application Developers’ work.
  • Mentor the Application Developers on the team.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Extensive knowledge of application development.
  • Considerable knowledge of C#, ASP.NET MVC, T-SQL, Razor, HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Working knowledge of source code control.
  • Ability to utilize Object-oriented design (OOD) and the software development lifecycle.
  • Ability to utilize T-SQL for querying and database design.
  • Ability to analyze and quickly debug issues.
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail.
  • Ability to use source code control.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
 
Minimum Qualification(s)
Note: Applicants must meet the following requirement(s) to be considered minimally qualified for the job.
 
 
A high school diploma or possession of a GED certificate; and
Ten years of paid experience in planning, designing, developing, maintaining, and troubleshooting client server applications in an enterprise environment using C# and ASP.NET; and
Seven or more years of experience with ASP.NET MVC; and
Seven or more years of experience in front-end web development with Razor, HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript; and
Seven or more years of experience using OOD, coding standards, and the software development lifecycle; and
Five or more years of experience with T-SQL and database design.
OR
An associate's degree from an accredited institution of higher education; and
Nine years of paid experience in planning, designing, developing, maintaining, and troubleshooting client server applications in an enterprise environment using C# and ASP.NET; and
Seven or more years of experience with ASP.NET MVC; and
Seven or more years of experience in front-end web development with Razor, HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript; and
Seven or more years of experience using OOD, coding standards, and the software development lifecycle; and
Five or more years of experience with T-SQL and database design.
OR
A bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution of higher education with a major in computer sciences, computer engineering, software engineering, information technology, or a related field; and
Eight years of paid experience in planning, designing, developing, maintaining, and troubleshooting client server applications in an enterprise environment using C# and ASP.NET; and
Seven or more years of experience with ASP.NET MVC; and
Seven or more years of experience in front-end web development with Razor, HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript; and
Seven or more years of experience using OOD, coding standards, and the software development lifecycle; and
Five or more years of experience with T-SQL and database design.
 
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with testing environments (e.g., unit, functional, integration, regression, and acceptance testing).
Ability to demonstrate web design capabilities.
Experience with creating and consuming web services.
Experience in ETL development with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
Experience in report development with SQL Server Integration Services (SSRS).
Experience with large-scale custom code integration of third party applications.
Experience with Agile software development lifecycle.
 
 
Additional Requirements
  • Depending on area of assignment, incumbents may be required to possess a valid Florida Driver License at time of employment. Driving history will be thoroughly reviewed and may be grounds for disqualification.
  • No visible tattoos on face. Tattoos on hands, neck, or arms must be covered with white, black, or neutral colored covering.
  • No illegal drug sale within lifetime.
  • No illegal drug use within the past 36 months. No marijuana use within the last 24 months.
  • No felony convictions within lifetime.
  • No misdemeanor convictions involving perjury, false statement, or domestic violence within lifetime.
  • Prior military personnel must not have a dishonorable discharge from any branch of the United States Armed Forces, the United States Coast Guard, National Guard, or Reserve Forces.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background investigation including polygraph, reference/employment/neighborhood checks, medical evaluation, and drug screening.
