The Communications Bureau is the Primary Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) for the unincorporated area of Hillsborough County. The Bureau is responsible for answering all incoming emergency (911 & TTY calls) and non-emergency telephone calls; 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The Communications Bureau also dispatches all calls for service. In a typical year, the Bureau staff answers approximately 1.5 million calls from the public and other agencies, of which approximately 500,000 are received via 911. The Communications Bureau also houses the TeleServe Unit, which is staffed by Community Service Officers who generate reports for citizens over the telephone.
