    • Colonel James Previtera

      Colonel Previtera joined the Sheriff’s Office in 2005 after having served as a Special Agent with the United States Secret Service. During his time with the Secret Service Colonel Previtera served in the Tampa Field Office, as an instructor at the James J. Rowley Training Center in Beltsville, Maryland, and as a member of the Vice Presidential Protection Division.

      Colonel Previtera began his law enforcement career in 1986 as a member of the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office. During his 11 years with the PCSO, Colonel Previtera was assigned as a patrol deputy, narcotics detective, School Resource Officer, and corporal in patrol. At the time of his departure to the Secret Service he was assigned to the Special Operations Division as the SWAT Team Liaison.

      Colonel Previtera has taught for the Southeastern Public Safety Institute, the Multi-Jurisdictional Counterdrug Task Force and the Florida Sheriffs Association Task Force. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminology from St. Leo College, and is a graduate of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, Criminal Investigator Training Program; the Special Agent Training Course at the James J. Rowley Training Center; and the Senior Management Institute for Police.
