Major Robert Bullara
Major Robert Bullara is the commander of the Child Protective Investigations Division. He has served with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office since 1981. His career has included numerous assignments in many sections of the agency. He began as a deputy in the Detention Department, then was reassigned to the Patrol Department. He has served in supervisory roles from corporal to lieutenant at various times in patrol, training, organized crime investigations, criminal investigations, juvenile operations, and the homicide section. In July 2007, he was promoted to captain and assigned as commander of the Crime Prevention Bureau.
Major Bullara earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice and a Master of Arts Degree in Administration and Adult Education, both at the University of South Florida. In addition to being a graduate of the Southern Police Institute Administrative Officers Course, Major Bullara has also attended specialized law enforcement training courses in: Instructor Techniques & Officer Stress Awareness/Resolution; HCSO Field Training Officer School; Florida Department of Law Enforcement Ethnic Crime Seminar; Sex Crimes Investigations & Organized Crime; Drug Enforcement; Supervisor/Management Line Supervision & Criminal Law; FDLE Crimes Against Children; and Medical Examiners School, Dade County.
Major Bullara has also participated in Leadership Brandon and performs civic functions with the Egypt Temple Shrine. He is well suited to command child protective investigations as he was part of the initial management team when the Sheriff’s Office assumed responsibility for such investigations from the Florida Department of Children and Families in 2005.
